Louis Braille

The whole world honoured yesterday (04-01-2009) the 200th anniversary of the birth of French inventor Louis Braille, who invented 'braille' - a world-wide system effectively used by blind and visually impaired people for reading and writing. I beleive that for us he will remain a hero forever.

Perhaps, the most significant of all achievements is the marvel to give the blind the ability to see!

I tired to learn how to read Braille once, I failed because I couldn't stop cheating by looking instead of feeling. Smart guy I hope the future brings more like him there are still many obstacles to conquer for those who are disabled.

Dear All,

Let me tell u a cruel fact..the Braille Institute located in Britain, which produces the Braille atricles is going bankrupt and it is on the verge of closure..the British government is trying to rope in private people for the funding to keep the Institute running...dont believe me..search google and u will find it..

He will indeed. To be without sight must be a terrible trial. I have just signed up to read the news for the blind and am looking forward to doing something small to assist. He was indeed a hero.

You never saw snow you say? I suppose that makes sense but it's still a surprise to me. Come over anytime to ogle mine!

I am even more amazed at how blind people overcome and press on.

It has to be a challenge to learn to read with your fingers.

Hello! It is almost time to wish Louis Braille a happy birthday again since you posted this :)
My father reads Braille and it is a complex and exhausting project to undertake! But fascinating in its invention.
Nearly Christmas here - but the tree isn't up yet :)
