Why I Always Dream About "The Dreamers" ?

Some consider it is a soft-porn flick, while others feel it is a pure erotic, but for me it is a plain movie. It is a movie about teenage romance, passion, obsession, innocence and pure love. I don't know those who have seen this British/French drama film directed by Bernardo Bertolucci will agree with me or not. Many feel that this movie could have been made better. Even I agree, but perhaps Bertolucci wanted to make this movie in his own way, ignoring the main theme of the movie '1968 student rebellions'. The Academy Award winning film director, who always emphasised two main themes in his movies - politics and women - admitted during an interview with BBC that the film has everything - cinema, eroticism, politics and rock 'n' roll. Certainly, 'The Dreamers' is not a masterpiece of Bertolucci, but for me it is a modern classic. According to many critics, the end results are disappointing. Why? Perhaps the director knows it better than us. The movie is certainly not for everyone. It is for those who understand Bertolucci's passion for cinema. When I recommended this movie to some of my friends, the response was somehow negative. They claimed that Bertolucci failed to explain the climax and concentrated heavily on the extreme intimacy between the three main characters in the movie. The New Yorker said it, " Pure Bertiloci", while The Guardian described it - "Sends Shivers Of Erotic Frission Of Up The Spine," whereas The Evening Standard said," A Swooning Love Letter To Paris, To Cinema And To Love". According to The Daily Telegraph - "A Masterpiece With Controversy Stamped All Over It." And I said - The Dreamers Is Not To Be Missed.

Let Them Bloom !

I never wanted to write an article on homosexuality, but the historic gay parade in Delhi, India propelled me to express my thoughts through my blog. The parade, where fashion celebrity like Manish Arora joined, was held beyond any one's imagination. At the same time, such kind of parades were also orgainsed across the world including one in Sofia, Bulgaria. But unlike Bulgaria, Delhi parade did not witness any kind of violence. But the only question that remains to be answered is whether there be a ban on gay, lesbian, bisexuals and transgender in our country? It is of my opinion that there should not be any kind of ban on them, despite the fact that homosexual relations are legally considered as a crime in India under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code.

In a democratic country like India everybody has the right to express their liberty and it is our duty to give the power of liberty and freedom to everyone. In many countries, people have actually realized that there is a place for homosexuality in the society, though many governments still oppose gay marriages. However, in our country it is difficult to convince the people that gay people are not from Mars. Believe it or not, they were in the early 20th century, and now they are everywhere in the world. Feel free to put any comments if you strongly feel towards the issue.

Angels On Earth

Marilyn Monroe

The ultimate fashion diva. I ponder many times what if she had alive today! Like others, I also consider her an epitome of beauty.

Catherine Zeta Zones

A truly gorgeous lady. She knows how to look good at any time - both on screen and off screen. I know why other men give a headache to Michael Douglas.

Monica Belucci

If someone asks me, what you would like to ask god when you first meet him, than I will say how she created a human being called Monica Belucci- I consider her today's Marilyn Monroe. It is difficult to match her beauty. The ultimate sex symbol !

Gwyneth Paltrow

Simple yet elegant. Many don't find sexiness in her, but I know the truth. Her glamorous looks could kill any man.

Scarlett Johansson

What can I say about this lady? Simply a stunner. Beauty with brain! Even one can't raise question over her acting prowess. Everyman's dream, but shattered by guys like Justin Timberlake and Ryan Reynolds. Hey, she is also one of the prominent actresses who does not believe in monogamy!

Angelina Jolie

Remember Original Scene! Kinky affairs with Antonio Banderas. A beauty list without Jolie, not possible, at least for me.

Salma Hayek Jimenez

Why she? The Mexican beauty has everything to woo any guy in the world.

Jessica Claire Biel

Well-known in the glamour world not for her talent but for her charming looks. She has given a new dimension to the glamour world with her mystery looks.

Winona Ryder
Hey any one seen Reality Bites? She is so wonderful! I mentioned her name because whenever I see her she always looks innocent and cute. No glamorous looks, only plain still dazzles.

Keira Knightley
This English beauty has grown up. She is no more a 16-year-old kid. She is a full-fledged woman, who loves to work in periodic movies.

Kate Winslet
No, I am not going to mention Titanic here. She has mesmerised me completely with her beauty in Jude, Holy Smoke and Quills.

Do Movie Critics Deserve Criticism?

They say it is easy to become a critic, but difficult to become a director. Judging a film is not bad, but the way the critics throw their opinions, had forced me to write something on the topic. There are two kinds of criticism - Constructive criticism and destructive criticism. However, it seems that Indian movie critics prefer the latter one mostly, following in the footsteps of western movie critics. People can argue that in a democratic country every one has to accept criticism. I agree. But, do we ever contemplate that the criticism could spoil the business of an entire movie? Producers invest whopping amount of money in making a movie, but these critics destroy the fate of a movie by giving poor ratings. Now, what if a critic makes a movie? Take the instance of Khalid Mohammed - widely regarded as one of the finest movie critics of India. He directed four movies - Silsiilay (2005). Tehzeeb (2003), Tareekh (2003) and Fiza (2000). All these four movies bombed at the box office and than Mohammed saab disappeared from movie making and preferred to continue his career as a journalist. There is absolutely no problem if a movie journo tries his hand in movie making, but he must have to face the criticism, the way he has been criticizing other movies. I strongly believe that many journalists from electronic media contribute a lot in giving negative remarks (by taking sound bytes of few people) as soon as a movie hits theatres, without possessing sufficient knowledge. Thus, the audience blindly follows their verdicts and avoids hitting the theatres. So who suffers? Everyone including actors, producers and director. It is often said that the fate of cinema in Hollywood is sealed in the hands of critics, who are mostly fastidious. Are our critics following in their footsteps? Perhaps the time has come to curb the hands of these critics, who in the name of freedom of expression are killing the fate of a movie with their opinions.

Value Of Hindi Language

People who speak in Hindi are often considered as second-class citizens. If we speak in Hindi in five star hotels or in high-profile places, than people will see you in such a way that it is a crime to speak in Hindi. For their kind information, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Chinese President Hu Jintao have very little knowledge in English and always try to communicate with their respective national language. It seems that these high profile leaders understand the value and importance of national language better than us. So next time when you go to Le Meridian and ask a question to receptionist in Hindi, than do not feel ashamed. You must proud of yourself that you have guts to speak in Hindi.
